Troubleshoot Google Home and Assistant Account Linking

Google is shutting down Home & Assistant voice apps on June 13, 2023.

Check out our migration guide.

Google has the following requirements to link your Tessie account:

  1. You must link your account using the Google Assistant app from Google Play.
  2. Your Google Assistant app's default language must be set to US English.
  3. Web & App Activity and Include voice and audio activity must be enabled in your Google account's Activity Controls.

If the "Link" or "Try it" buttons don't work in Google Assistant or Google Home apps

This is a bug in the Google Assistant and Google Home apps.
Say "Hey Google, talk to Tessie" to Google Assistant on your phone and you'll be prompted to link your account.

If you receive the message "First, here are some details about how Google shares info with other services"

Press the Unlock more Assistant features button and try again.

If you receive the message "Tessie isn't available on devices set up for your country or region"

Your Google Assistant app's default language must be set to US English. To fix this:

  1. Open the Google Assistant app.
  2. In your profile, go to Languages.
  3. Remove other languages and add US English to make it your default.

If you receive the message "To let me read out that information, turn on personal results in the Google Home app"

This error is misleading and most often relates to the Google Assistant app. To fix this:

  1. Open the Google Assistant app.
  2. Go to your profile > Devices > (your device).
  3. Enable personal results. If it's already on, turn it off and on again
If you receive the message "There was an error linking your account. Please try again later."
Set your default browser to Chrome on Android and Safari on iOS and try linking again.
To unlink your account
Visit this page using your phone to open Tessie in the Google Assistant app, then tap Stop Tessie from remembering me at the bottom.
