Phone & Watch Key Troubleshooting

Try turning Bluetooth off and on to fix any device issue.

If your key is still not connecting, make sure that:

  • You're near the driver door
  • Tessie is open in the background
  • Less than 3 keys are connected
  • Settings & Security > Phone Key is enabled in the Tesla app
  • You've enabled the required settings for your device (see below)
  • There is only one key running on your device (see our note below)

For iOS devices, deleting the key in the Settings app under Bluetooth can also fix connectivity issues.

Avoid using multiple keys on Android devices

Using both the Tesla and Tessie Phone Keys at the same time can cause connectivity issues. Most Android devices limit the number of Bluetooth connections, leading to interference as both apps compete to connect to your vehicle.

Required settings for iPhone

  • Enable Settings > Bluetooth
  • Enable Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services
  • In the Tessie app, tap the location bar to enable location permissions
  • Enable Settings > Tessie > Location > Always
  • Enable Settings > Tessie > Bluetooth

Required settings for Apple Watch

  • Enable Settings > Bluetooth
  • Enable Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services
  • (On your iPhone) In the Tessie app, tap the location bar to enable location permissions
  • (On your iPhone) Enable Settings > Tessie > Location > Always
  • (On your iPhone) Enable Settings > Tessie > Bluetooth

Required settings for Android

  • Enable Settings > Bluetooth
  • Enable Settings > Location
  • Enable Settings > Apps > Tessie > Permissions > Location > Allow All the Time
  • Enable Settings > Apps > Tessie > Permissions > Location > Use Precise Location
  • Enable Settings > Apps > Tessie > Permissions > Nearby Devices > Allow
  • Enable Settings > Apps > Tessie > App Battery Usage > Unrestricted
  • Disable Adaptive Battery

Required settings for Wear OS

  • Enable Settings > Connectivity > Bluetooth
  • Enable Settings > Location
  • Enable Settings > Apps > Tessie > Permissions > Location > Allow All the Time
  • Enable Settings > Apps > Tessie > Permissions > Nearby Devices > Allow
